VISA, on behalf of all Issuers, will forward reports of lost or stolen cards to the appropriate card Issuers. A VISA Classic Credit Card or MoneyKey ATM/Check Card (Debit Card) cardholder reports a lost or stolen card directly to the credit union or the cardholder may call 800-336-8472 to file a report. VISA Platinum/Gold cardholders should call the Visa International Service Center at 1-800-VISA-911 (1-800-847-2911) to report a lost or stolen card.
Automatic Travel Accident Insurance
(Hartford Life plan for VISA Classic Credit Card)
You and your dependents* become covered automatically when the entire travel (passenger on a Common Carrier) fare is charged to your VISA Classic Credit Card while this insurance is effective and if account is eligible. It is not necessary to notify the Financial Institution, the Insurance Company, or the Plan Administrator when the tickets are purchased. Coverage ends when the policy is terminated.
If a covered Person's injury happens while on a covered trip and results in any of the following losses within 365 days after the date of accident, we will pay $250,000 for loss of life, both hands or both feet or sight of both eyes, one hand and one foot, speech and hearing, either hand or foot and sight of one eye; $125,000 for loss of either hand or foot, sight of one eye, speech or hearing; $62,500 for loss of thumb and index finger of either hand.
Only one amount, the greater, will be paid for any one accident. In no event will multiple charge cards obligate the Insurance Company in excess of the stated benefit for any one loss sustained by a covered person as a result of any one accident.
Contact the credit union's Lending Services department at 800-748-0451 for complete program details.
*Your spouse, unmarried dependent child(ren), under age 19 (23 if a full-time student).
Travel Accident Insurance Program
(for VISA Platinum/Gold Credit Card)
Travel Accident Insurance, an accidental death and dismemberment coverage, applies when common carrier tickets (airline, rail, bus, cruise line, etc.) are purchased with a covered Visa card and a covered loss occurs as a result of travel on the common carrier. VISA Gold and Platinum cards provide a maximum of $100,000 coverage.
Auto Rental Insurance (ARI)*
The cardholder's VISA Classic, VISA Gold, and VISA Platinum card provides, at no additional cost, coverage for damage or theft, up to the full value of most rental cars when certain terms and conditions are met. Coverage is effective when the cardholder initiates and completes the entire rental transaction with a covered Visa card and declines the car rental company's collision damage waiver (CDW/LDW) option, or similar provision if offered by the car rental company.
Coverage is for rentals that neither exceed nor are intended to exceed 15 consecutive days within the U.S. or 31 consecutive days outside the U.S. Losses must be reported to the Program Administrator within 20 days** of the date of loss or the cardholder's claim will be denied. All claim forms must be postmarked within 90 days** of the date of loss. Coverage is secondary within the U.S. and primary outside the U.S. Secondary coverage means that this insurance is provided on an excess basis. It will pay for the outstanding deductible portion or other charges not covered by the cardholder's primary automobile insurance policy.
Answers to common cardholder questions about Auto Rental Insurance
Q: Is coverage valid overseas?
A: Yes. This coverage is available worldwide on a 24-hour basis unless precluded by law or in violation of the territory terms of the rental agreement, or prohibited by individual merchants. There are certain terms and conditions that must be met.
Q: What do I do if I have an accident?
A: Immediately, but no later than 20 days** from the date of the loss, call the VISA International Service Center at 800-VISA-911 (800-847-2911). The representative will answer any questions you or the car rental agent may have and transfer you to the Program Administrator to file a claim.
Q: Is there a deductible?
A: No. However, coverage in the United States is provided on a secondary basis. This means it will pay in excess of your personal/business insurance, in most cases.
Q: What should I do if the rental agency wants to verify the ARI coverage?
A: Contact the Visa International Service Center at 800-VISA-911 (800-847-2911) to confirm coverage.
Q: Is liability coverage included in this program?
A: No. Cardholders wishing to obtain these coverages must make arrangements through other sources or purchase the coverage offered at the time of rental.
Q: What should I do if the rental agency states that they will take care of the paperwork?
A: Contact the VISA International Service Center at 800-VISA-911 (800-847-2911) to file a claim anyway. In many instances the rental agency will not take care of the paperwork, and it is the cardholder's responsibility to report and file a claim.
