Financial Plus Federal Credit Union offers members the choice of either an ATM card or our MoneyKey ATM/Check Card (commonly called a debit card).

Difference between an ATM Card and a Debit Card

ATM Card can be used:
  • at ATM locations for withdrawals, deposits, balance inquires and transfers
  • at merchants that offer Point-of-Sale (POS) transactions - you "swipe" the card through a reader and enter your PIN number
Debit Card can be used:
  • at ATM locations for withdrawals, deposits, balance inquires and transfers
  • at merchants that offer Point-of-Sale (POS) transactions - you "swipe" the card through a reader and enter your PIN number
  • at merchants that accept VISA - the merchants processes the transactions and the funds are withdrawn from your checking account (you must have a checking account to be eligible for a Debit Card)

Please Note: If you need to report a lost/stolen credit card after hours, please call 810-244-2200 or

Your Financial Plus ATM or Debit card may be used at ATM locations worldwide that display one of the following symbols:

NYCE   •   Cirrus   •   CO-OP Network

Financial Plus Federal Credit Union provides members with their first 16 transactions FREE of charge. Transactions beyond 16 are charged $1.25 each. Charges for transactions beyond 16 are deducted from the member's share account immediately when the transaction takes place.

Avoid ATM Surcharges

ATM surcharges are frequently imposed by the owner of the ATM machine for making cash withdrawals from their ATM location. ATM surcharges are commonly $1.50, but can be $3.00 or more.

ATM locations that impose a surcharge must notify the customer of the surcharge two ways:
  1. in writing on the ATM (frequently in small print in a low-visibility area)
  2. on screen during the transaction, before the transaction is completed so the transaction can be cancelled.
You can avoid ATM surcharges by using "No-Surcharge" ATM locations. Click here for a list of Flint Area No-Surcharge ATM Locations.  Financial Plus Federal Credit Union belongs to the Co-op Network, which means you will not be surcharged at Co-op Network locations.

Using an ATM at Point-of-Sale (POS) Locations

Many merchants (grocery stores, discount stores, gas stations, etc.) offer Point-of-Sale (POS) transactions — you "swipe" the card through a reader and enter your PIN. Frequently, you are given the option of having cash back. Your total for these transactions is limited to the balance in your account, up to the $500 daily limit.

Care of Your ATM Card
Protect your ATM card from the following conditions that can cause physical damage to the card:
• avoid magnets that can demagnetize the strip in the back of the card.
• do not bend the card.

Protect the security of your credit union account by protecting the security of your ATM card:
• do not write your Personal Identification Number (PIN) on your ATM card or any where near the card.
• do not let other individuals have access to your ATM card and PIN.
• report loss or stolen ATM card immediately by calling the credit union (after hours, call 800-634-7435).
